Independence
WIGO Trips is editorially independent. No advertiser, partner, or tourism board has influence over the editorial archive. Sponsored content, when it exists, is clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial articles.
Sourcing
Every article is checked against at least two independent sources. Where possible, a local correspondent or reader reviews it before publication. We prefer primary sources (archives, local historians, interviews) over secondary aggregations.
Fact-checking
We confirm opening hours, prices, and transport details with the relevant providers before publication, and date that confirmation. Travel facts change quickly, so we re-check older articles on a rolling basis.
Photography
We use original photography wherever possible, taken by our correspondents or sourced from named photographers under licence. We do not use AI-generated imagery in editorial articles. Stock imagery is avoided in favour of place-specific photography.
Disclosures
We disclose when an article was made possible by a hosted visit, press trip, or in-kind support. We disclose any affiliate relationships clearly. We do not place affiliate links inside editorial body copy.
Corrections
When we make a mistake, we correct it visibly on the affected article and, when warranted, in the next newsletter. Material corrections are dated. We prefer to be embarrassed in public for a small error than quietly inaccurate forever.
Ethical reporting
We try to avoid contributing to overtourism. We follow the principle of writing about fragile places only when we can do so responsibly, sometimes by recommending off-season visits or by withholding publication entirely.
Conflicts of interest
Editors and contributors disclose personal connections to subjects of articles. When a conflict cannot be reasonably mitigated, the article is assigned to someone else.
